Stoney Creek Metropark
Stoney Creek Metropark is probably the most commonly used trail by mountain bikers in the area. It's only 7 miles from campus and is packed with tons of trails that range from beginner stuff to some pretty technical ones.
A good majority of the trail is fast two track, and there are two main single track sections called "the pines" and "rollercoaster". Both sections are very fun and you can fly threw them with a little practice! Bloomer Park
Bloomer park has some awsome mountain biking trails, though if you don't know your way around, you can get lost pretty easily. It is also famous for it's HUGE switchback section.
We will have a few training rides here, and since Cruise lives less than a mile away, we can go there and party afterward! Pontiac Lake
The University of Michigan race will be held here on Sep 29. It's a very technical, but fun course. Beginners will have a hard time here.
It is also fairly close to OU, just continue down Walton road for about 10 miles and you're there. Addison Oaks
This is a very fast course. There aren't many hills and it's not very technical. It flows very well and you'll have a good time here.
Road
Stoney Creek Metropark
Stoney Creek Metropark is a road bike rider's best friend. Hundreds of riders are on the road every day, there are probably more bikes than there are cars actually.
The main loop around the park is 6 miles around. There is also a side road to the Nature center that you can take to make the loop 10 miles instead. This is the route we will be taking since it adds 2 hills, which is good training. Oakland University itself!
Oakland University actually is a great place to train. A lot of other clubs/teams actually ride through OU on their own training routes. There are plenty of hills and if you go later in the day or on weekends, there isn't much traffic.
Track
Velodrome at Bloomer park
The Velodrome at Bloomer Park is an outdoor track for bike racing. There are only a few in the United States and we are very lucky to have this amazing facility so close to us.
It is free to ride for your first time, there are instructors and bikes you can rent. A year pass is $100, and it is free for the whole year if you are 18 or younger. Place in canada
I forget what it's called...
